ABOUT US:

S.C.I.M. Govt.College was established in 1968 vide G.O.Ms.No. 1276 Education of Govt . of A.P. dated:14-06-1968.The college was included in the list of colleges maintained under section 2(f) and 12B of UGC Act 1956 with nomenclature “S.C.I.M.Govt. College, Tanuku, District-West Godavari-534211, Andhra Pradesh” under the head of Government Colleges. Sri Chittoori Venkateswara Rao, who was the President of the society of the college and is also son of late Sri Chittoori Indrayya ,on whose name the college was established, donated two lakhs rupees out of deposit of 4 lakh rupees , which was stipulated by Govt of AP to commence the college. Further Rs.1.5 lakh from the deposit was paid to Someswara Swamy Vari Devastham vide G.O. No.1570 Education, dated:07-10-1971 as the Devastham was the donor of land of 12 acres. Vide G.O.Ms.No.177Edn (CE1) dept of Govt of AP, dated:12-08-1996, the college was bifurcated on 29-08-1996 into two colleges.

The separated new college is named as S.C.I.M. Govt. Junior college which consists of Intermediate (plus two) programs for which 5 acres of land was allotted. The residuary part has been continuing as S.C.I.M. Govt. College which runs undergraduate and post graduate programs and for which remaining land of 7 acres was allotted. Presently the college caters to the needs of 746 students in both UG and PG courses, out of which 93% of them belong to socially, culturally, economically, backward sections from rural areas. Presently there are 36 members as full-time teaching staff and 15 members as non- teaching staff and one mentor in placement cell JKC. The college was accredited at B+ level with institutional score 76.15 on 28th February 2005 and again re-accredited with CGPA 2.62 on four-point scale at B grade on 5th January 2013. After that the college qualified the following ISO audits: 1) ISO 90001:2015 for providing educational services on 10-04-2021 and subsequently ISO 9001:2015 for providing educational services under first surveillance on 9-4-2022. 2)ISO 50001:2011 for meeting environmental standards in implementation of Energy Saving Practices on 24-12-2021. 4) ISO 14001:2015 for meeting environmental standards in implementation of Greenery and Promotional Activities on 24-12-2021..

VISION:

To transform the College into a Multi-faculty Model College offering courses with curriculum incorporated with multiple skills with practical training at affordable cost to the downtrodden sections of the societies from rural areas, bringing out their hidden talents and making them globally preferred.

MISSION:

Quality enhancement of Higher Education being the primary goal of all the Government Degree Colleges, the institution aims at expanding its awareness through academic and social activities by taking conception, planning, evaluation, and promotion and sustenance initiatives to secure better employability. Their pre-occupation with the latest methodology and community oriented training programmes with a special focus on reducing the Urban-rural divide and inculcating core values of life among the youth, would enable them to meet the requirements of the contemporary society departing from the traditional path of approach in the teaching learning activity.
