DEPARTMENT OF Political Science PROFILE



 The department of Political Science was established at the time of the inception of the college in the year 1968. Political Science is part of the B.A.(H.E.P.) course offered by the college. The intake for this course presently stands at 60. The discipline of political science focuses mainly on the politics of governments, including their political relations with members of society and with one another. It examines a broad variety of topics, ranging from the sources, distribution, and exercise of power to the role of class, race, and gender; the political attitudes and behaviors of individuals and groups. The study of political science helps one to participate as active and enlightened citizens in the political process down from the village level to the international level. Needless to say, Political Science is one of the most sought-after subjects for a career in central and state civil services. The students can also pursue career in the burgeoning private sector as well such as NGOs, mass media, law, policy thinktanks and Election consultancies. The subject also qualifies students to choose a career in School, College and University teaching, Research, Management and so on.

  The department of Political Science seeks to develop students into active and responsible citizens capable of independent and critical thinking, as well as to promote respect for diversity and concern for the nation and humanity.

MISSION :

The students of the department are trained to develop an analytical framework to understand the multiple perspectives of understanding reality. The goal is achieved by promoting a democratic culture in the classroom through participatory teaching-learning methods and by undertaking extension activities to contribute to a free, just, and humane society.
