The department of microbiology was established in the academic year 2004 when restructured courses were established in selected government colleges. Microbiology with allied subjects botany and chemistry has sanctioned strength of 20 students. Later the strength was increased to 40. At present the microbiology laboratory is equipped with basic instruments such as microscopes, oven, incubator, inoculation chamber, and sufficient glassware. The department has its own mini library with books in microbiology both of Indian and foreign authors. 2 .Staff composition: The sanctioned post is one which is filled. MBBC (Microbiology, Botany, Chemistry) 3. Activities Taken Up by the Department: Study tours and field trips - the students are taken to various institutions to give them practical exposure Study projects – final year students carry study projects under the guidance of staff. Guest Lectures: the department also has guest lectures by eminent Microbiologists. 4. Teaching Practices: Every year we prepare academic plans. Every Staff member will follow the plan for completion of syllabus .The department of Microbiology takes up regular teaching, seminars, assignments, monthly tests, group discussions, Quiz, Seminar, carrier guidance and debates as teaching practices.
